Dear Hollywood LIT Retreaters!
So… for now, I have transitioned to Austin, TX… My love for Austin goes back to 2006 when I arrived for the first time on a book tour and fell in love with the town. It was the warmth of the subtropical air, the permeating fun and authentic vibe of the town becoming a city and the incredible politeness of everyone. At that time, I discovered Rainey Street in its early days of glory. I then lived on Rainey from 2015 through 2016 in its heyday. I have now returned as an Austinite and discovered that covid changed both me and Rainey… so this time, I have chosen to live on Lake Travis in Lago Vista (the Malibu-like section of Austin). It is beautiful and green and I am looking forward to the lake life with downtown nearby on demand. I stumbled on this short TEDx talk and realized it is not just one’s closet but the rooms we live in; change your room, change your life.
